Ok, so Saturday morning we woke up in the van outside of Mike’s crib and I blogged the morning away. By the time I was done and everyone was done showering Jillian, Mike and his hip lady friend Christina, and I hit the city for a quick touristy walk. We went into Hilcrest and walked around and grabbed some grub at a Which Wich, its a fun little chain sandwich shop where you order you sandwich by checking the boxes on a labeled paper bag. I handled the 5 meat 3 cheese sub with a side of cookies. We went onto a hat shop for a bit and played with the many hats. Then to Balboa park. After so many days on the road and so many cities and attractions I have to say we are pretty jaded. When we first started I was taking pictures every 5 seconds, now I don’t even want to bring my camera out with me. I’d like to just enjoy the day without the 5 pound weight around my shoulder. We are getting really lazy. And as far as writing the blog goes, we hate it. It’s always been kind of a burden and a chore but now our hatred for this time sucker is growing. I do realize that I need to take pics and blog cuz it’s a valuable tool when reminiscing and it keeps our friends and family involved, but its such a pain in the ass. We’ve been getting bratty. We are spoiled. But anyway enough bitchin, I mean its’ not like we are working. Spending a couple hours a day blogging is really easy compared to my past life.
So Balboa park. It’s a huge park in the center of the city with museums, street perfumers, the Zoo, and what not. It’s probably the Number 1 tourist spot in the SD. I couldn’t get over the cool plants in this park. Every couple minutes I found myself saying “Whoa, look at this tree.” There was a small cactus garden, with some of the most awesome plants I’ve ever seen. San Diego is the land of cool trees, as far as I’m concerned. Check some of these out.
“Hey guys look at this one”“Whoa, Look at these roots”“What?! This one is so stupid”“Lookat this one”“whoa, this is a Dr. Suess tree”“Medusa Catus tree?”“Whaaaattt?!?!“This is my Favorite tree, I love this one guys”
Sorry i went a little overboard with the tree pics.
More pics of our Balboa Park walk.
Whats wrong with this pic??
Mike left for work so me and Jilly went to the beach to relax in the California sun. San Diego does not disappoint. The temp has hovered around 80 the entire length of our visit, and the sky’s have been cloudless. It’s a couple days from November and the weather is perfect. I don’t want to here it from you Floridians either, unlike your home turf there’s not a drop of humidity in the air. So-cal climate has got it locked in. Best in the country fo sho. Here at the beach I had a truly Cali moment. There was the sun setting behind the ocean, surfers up and down the beach, palm trees lined the streets, food trucks, everyone was bare foot, old VW hippie/surf vans, motorcycles, It was straight out of a movie. I was like “where the F am I right now?” Attached to the beach was a “dog beach,” hundreds of dogs and there owners playing on the beach and in the water. It was like Jill’s dream come true.
Aimee called us up and we headed to her crib and met her husband Tony. He’s a cool dude with ken doll looks. They took us to our first road trip sushi at the Sushi deli #3. Its a popular, cheap, highly rated San Diego sushi spot. It was a long wait but the food was on point. From there we went to a 7 11 and got snacks and a redbox movie. We polished the day off with an ice cream orgy (4 Ben and Jerry’s pints that we passed around) and the movie Super 8 projected onto Aimee’s livingroom wall.
